2013 "Innovator of the Future" Scholarship
Mission Statement
The Rambus "Innovator of the Future" Scholarship seeks to broaden the educational opportunities of students who, by virtue of their academic and extracurricular achievement, demonstrate a passion for science and technology that extends beyond
the classroom. The winners must possess strong leadership and communication skills and the desire to positively impact society through innovation in science and technology.
Scholarship Awards
Up to two individuals will be awarded an Innovator of the Future Scholarship in the amount of $10,000 each for college/university tuition and books (at a US or foreign college/university that meets IRS regulations). The scholarship award will be distributed in equal increments over 4 years ($2,500 per year), at the beginning of each academic year. Scholarship winners are required to be full-time students and to maintain a 2.5 minimum college GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in order to continue receiving the award. Additional one-time awards in the amount of $1000 will be given to up to four Scholarship finalists who participate in the interview process but who are not selected as Scholarship winners.
Eligibility Requirements
- Current high school student graduating before Fall 2013.
- Attending one of the following high schools located in Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Santa Clara, or Sunnyvale, CA: Fremont HS, Homestead HS, The King’s Academy, Los Altos HS, Mountain View Academy, Mountain View HS, Pinewood HS, St. Francis HS, Wilcox HS.
- Attending a four-year college/university program of study beginning in Fall 2013.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for grades 10-12.
Please note: Immediate family members of current full-time Rambus employees and contractors are not eligible to apply.
Selection Process
The Rambus Scholarship Committee will select winners based on academic excellence (especially in the areas of math, science and technology), passion for technology, leadership in school, civic and extra curricular activities, and motivation to serve and succeed.
Applications must be submitted online by January 25, 2013 at 11:59:59 PM PST and supporting documentation must be postmarked on or before January 25, 2013. No hand delivered applications or supporting documentation will be accepted. Scholarship applicants who are selected as finalists will be called for interviews to be held in Sunnyvale in late March 2013. The winners will be announced by the end of April. Winners will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and a release. All applications and supporting documentation become the property of the Scholarship Committee and will not be returned.
