Commercial Applications

Commercial lighting includes a wide variety of applications and fixtures. From office buildings and schools to hospitals, hotels and restaurants, the types of lighting fixtures for these applications span a broad spectrum of area and task lighting fixtures. The highest volume fixture type is overhead lighting, including recessed troffers and pendant fixtures.

Given the number of fixtures required for a typical installment, commercial applications are particularly sensitive to the economics of the lighting design. Commercial lighting design decisions are based on a life-cycle cost basis which includes acquisition, installation, operating (electricity), and maintenance costs.

Rambus' LED lighting enables commercial lighting fixtures with extremely high optical efficiency and precise ray angle control to deliver maximum application efficiency. In addition, designers have the flexibility to customize the output of the fixture for a virtually unlimited number of application scenarios. Precise ray angle control also improves lighting ergonomics by reducing glare, putting more light on task and ensuring proper distribution of light. This capability reduces the amount of LEDs and fixtures required to deliver the desired amount of light as well as the operating costs for an installation.
