Bell ID is pleased to announce that the ‘Defensiepas’ ID card for the Dutch Ministry of Defense has been awarded IT project of the year at the Computable Awards.
In cooperation with prime contractors Siemens Nederland N.V. and Getronics PinkRoccade, Bell ID is implementing its Card & Application Management System and Key Management System.
The Defensiepas ID card will be replacing the existing ID cards and will act as a secure mean of identification for the Ministry’s 400,000 cardholders. The card will be used to gain physical access to buildings and rooms as well as logical access to IT systems. PKI functionality will provide the means to authenticate electronic documents and emails with digital signatures.
Bell ID has previous experience of working with the Dutch Ministry of Defense, as they delivered the ministry’s first ID card in 1998. That card project won the Golden Chip Award at the Dutch National Chip Card Congress in 1998.
Peter Menssen, Sales Manager for Benelux region at Bell ID said: The new Defensiepas project brings together state of the art technology from Bell ID, Siemens and Getronics PinkRoccade, and is a worthy winner of this award. We are very pleased to be working with the Dutch Ministry of Defense again after the success of their first ID card project.”
