Rambus A19 Lamp Wins Energy Technology ACE Award

Revolutionary lamp, utilizing MicroLens® technology, demonstrates superior energy-efficient innovation for lighting solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — April 07, 2014 — Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS) today announced its revolutionary A19 lamp, first introduced in 2013, has been named as winner in the Energy Technology category of the EE Times and EDN 2014 UBM Tech ACE Awards. This lamp, which utilizes Rambus’ patented MicroLens® optical technology, delivers the light output of a traditional incandescent lamp with the energy efficiency, durability and reliability of advanced LED technology. The Rambus MicroLens technology is also utilized in the WaveStream™ line of LED lighting solutions provided byEaton’s Cooper Lighting Division.

Rambus Expands Family of Revolutionary LED-based Light Bulbs

The Commercially Available PAR30 and BR30 Complement the Previously Announced A19 Now Providing an Extended Range of Commercial and Consumer Bulbs

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – 04/18/2013 – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS), the innovative technology solutions company that brings invention to market, today announced it has expanded its LED bulb product portfolio to include both PAR30 and BR30 bulbs. Like the previously introduced Rambus A19 bulb, the two new products are built on the company’s MicroLens® optical technology, provide excellent energy efficiency and broad dimmer compatibility, and are designed to provide highly effective thermal management. The new Rambus PAR30 (65-watt equivalent) and BR30 (75-watt equivalent) LED bulbs are designed to address the energy efficiency, reduced glare and lighting experience needs of consumers, property managers, retailers, lighting designers, and specifiers across a wide range of indoor and outdoor lighting applications.

“The LED market is experiencing record growth as consumer and professional demand for energy-efficient products continues to rise and new innovations improve the performance, cost and overall value of LED-based products,” said Jeffery Parker, president of the Rambus Lighting and Display Technology business. “Rambus is at the forefront of LED bulb innovation with our optical technologies, significantly improving light distribution, performance, and overall product lifetime.”

Both the Rambus PAR30 and BR30 LED bulbs exceed lumen output specified by Energy Star. In addition, the superior micro-electronics improve dimmability and provide a better lighting experience. The full portfolio of Rambus LED bulbs are currently available for commercial orders, with shipments expected to start by the third quarter of this year

The Elite Group will promote and sell the Rambus LED bulb portfolio to retail markets within North America, including the broad range of major retail customers already working with Elite. Elite Group’s L’Image home products division will be demonstrating bulbs built on Rambus’ technology at the upcoming National Hardware Show (Booth # 3111), from May 7 – May 9 in Las Vegas.

Rambus Signs License Agreement with Fern Howard to Develop LED Lighting Products

Agreement covers Rambus’ lighting solutions and patented innovations for lighting focused on European and Middle Eastern markets

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES and ALTON, HAMPSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM – 04/02/2012 – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS), one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies, today announced it has signed a license agreement with Fern Howard, a market-leading manufacturer of energy efficient lighting. This agreement enables Fern Howard to sell advanced lighting products based on Rambus lighting solutions incorporating Rambus patented innovations including MicroLens® optics technology.

“We are excited to see Rambus lighting solutions expand into the European and Middle Eastern markets with the help of Fern Howard,” said Jeff Parker, president of the Lighting and Display Technology business at Rambus. “Using key Rambus technologies, Fern Howard fixtures will achieve a level of styling, application efficiency, and precise control of light unmatched in the bulkhead and utility lighting industry.”

Rambus Announces Pentelic™ Lighting Solutions

Demonstrates unprecedented performance for LED-based lighting products

SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – 05/17/2011 – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS), one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies, today unveiled its Pentelic™ lighting solutions which allow lighting designers to harness all the advantages of light emitting diodes (LEDs). Pentelic solutions include design support for complete lighting fixtures tailored to the specific application requirements of licensees. With Pentelic solutions, licensees can create the highest efficiency edge-lit LED light fixtures using Rambus technology that provides precise ray angle control and unparalleled freedom of design. Because Pentelic solutions address optical design, thermal management and power delivery, licensees can achieve rapid time to market and unprecedented price-performance characteristics in their lighting products.

Rambus Acquires Patented Innovations and Technology from Global Lighting Technologies

Newly acquired advanced lighting and optoelectronics innovations broaden solutions for computing and consumer applications

LOS ALTOS, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – 12/14/2009 – – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS), one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies, today announced it has acquired technology and a portfolio of advanced lighting and optoelectronics patents from Global Lighting Technologies Inc. (GLT). These patented innovations, which include MicroLens™ light distribution technology, broaden Rambus’ solutions for computing and consumer electronics. As part of this agreement, Rambus will pay GLT $26 million.

In addition, it is expected that twelve people will join Rambus from GLT including Jeff Parker, GLT’s co-founder, former chief executive officer and principal inventor. Most of those joining from GLT will form a new Lighting Technology Division led by Mr. Parker. He and his engineering team will continue the development of Rambus’ newly acquired innovations and provide complete lighting solutions for customers based on this breakthrough technology. Also joining Rambus is Chris Pickett, formerly GLT’s president of the Licensing Division and general counsel, who will serve as a senior licensing executive for the new Lighting Technology Division.

A key application area for the acquired innovations is light emitting diode (LED) backlighting of liquid crystal displays (LCD). LED backlighting solutions are increasingly pervasive in LCD displays for computers, mobile phones, gaming systems and HDTVs, offering advantages in image quality, power efficiency and reliability. These newly acquired innovations enable cost-effective and ultra-thin form factor LCD displays. They are also important for new applications such as advanced LED-based general lighting solutions.
