LOS ALTOS, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – 08/28/2008 – As students of certain Palo Alto schools head back to the classroom, they will have new learning tools courtesy of a local company. Rambus Inc., one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies specializing in high-speed memory architectures, has donated over 200 laptop computers for use in the schools of the Palo Alto Unified School District, and Casa dei Bambini.
“Throughout Rambus’ history, our community program has focused on providing support and assistance in the areas of technology and education,” said Harold Hughes, president and chief executive officer at Rambus. “This is our way of helping local students build a strong foundation for the future.”
“Donations such as this help provide the tools our students need to enhance their education,” said Kevin Skelly, Palo Alto Unified School District superintendent. “Rambus’ contribution helps students with everything from writing reports, researching projects, to creating new ideas. We appreciate the support from the Rambus team.”
In addition to this laptop donation, Rambus plays an active role in the community, contributing time and resources to organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together, and the Children’s Health Council. The Company recently built over 800 spectroscope kits for the Bay Area Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) program.
