Bell ID Appoints Michelle Lehouck as U.S. EMV Product Director

Bell ID is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Lehouck as EMV Product Director for its U.S. division. As the U.S. migration to EMV chip technology gains momentum, Michelle will be responsible for maintaining and expanding Bell ID’s EMV activity in the region by offering even greater on-the-ground support to the company’s expanding U.S. client base.

Bell ID is a software company providing banks with lifecycle management solutions for EMV smart cards, their related applications and cryptographic keys. Its solutions enable banks to manage and control any EMV token, such as contact and contactless cards as well as applications on near field communication (NFC) enabled mobile phones, once they have been issued.

Michelle joins Bell ID with over 15 years of industry knowledge gained with companies such as STMicroelectronics and CPI Card Group. With practical experience of migrating European banks to EMV chip payment technology, she brings with her significant expertise of all aspects of EMV market strategy. This includes understanding the impact of implementing EMV on a bank’s infrastructure as well as the critical success factors which need to be met when managing such a project.

“Michelle’s appointment comes at an important time for the U.S. marketplace,” comments Pat Curran, Executive Chairman at Bell ID. “Now that doubt surrounding the Durbin Amendment has gone, issuers are moving full-steam-ahead with EMV deployments and the market is turning to technology providers and consultants that have extensive experience of supporting migration projects. Michelle’s wealth of knowledge about regional U.S. requirements combined with her own and Bell ID’s EMV expertise, places our U.S. team in a strong position to offer unrivalled support to U.S. banks.”

Bell ID Joins EMV Migration Forum

Leading smart token management solution provider, Bell ID, has joined the EMV® Migration Forum, an independent, cross-industry organization started by the Smart Card Alliance, to help drive forward and support the implementation of EMV payments technology in the United States (U.S.).

With experience gained in the smart card, payments and mobile sectors worldwide, Bell ID will contribute its extensive knowledge of provisioning and managing the delivery of secure services to end-users via chip-based technologies on plastic cards and in mobile near field communication (NFC)-enabled devices.

The EMV Migration Forum’s [or Forum’s] objective is to stimulate the use of secure chip-based technology in North America. The launch of its latest forum provides a central hub for the U.S. payments community to effectively discuss and agree how EMV technology should be implemented across the country. The forum brings together payment systems, banks and financial institutions, product manufacturers and key actors in the NFC ecosystem, to ensure interoperability, security and consumer usability of secure-chip technology.

Pat Curran, Executive Chairman at Bell ID, comments: “Four of the major payment systems have communicated their EMV roadmaps for the U.S. Each highlights the value secure chips bring beyond plastic payment cards to a world of NFC-based mobile payments. The U.S. has a unique opportunity to create an innovative secure EMV infrastructure that not only supports payment-related mobile contactless transactions, but also payment enabling services, such as redemption of coupons. The ability to deliver such value added services will offer real customer convenience and drive the next generation of payment technology.”

Bell ID recognizes the important role the Forum is playing in the U.S payments market. Curran explains: “This inter-industry body is facilitating important discussions and work groups that will ensure consistent, clear and educated decisions can be made by industry stakeholders across the country. We very much look forward to contributing our time and expertise at such an exciting time.”

Randy Vanderhoof, Acting Director of the EMV Migration Forum and Executive Director at Smart Card Alliance, adds: “As the US takes important steps forward in its move towards EMV, we welcome Bell ID to the group and look forward to its participation in the forum during this critical time.”

Bell ID also joined the Smart Card Alliance in April 2012. Its EMV token management product range enables banks and financial institutions to implement and manage the complete lifecycle of EMV payment solutions globally. Its solutions are compliant with the worldwide EMV standard for credit and debit payment cards, outlined by EMVCo – the global standards body owned by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa – and works harmoniously with traditional plastic card-based and more innovative NFC-enabled mobile devices.

Bell ID Simplifies EMV Smart Card & NFC Application Management with Versatile New Platform

Bell ID today announced the launch of Bell ID® EMV Token Manager, a new web based solution which coordinates and simplifies the management of any type or combination of EMV token deployment, including contact, contactless and dual interface cards as well as the option to support contactless applications in NFC enabled mobile phones.

The newly announced solution is a comprehensively redesigned successor to Bell ID’s acclaimed ANDiS4EMV smart card management system and draws on the company’s experience with banks and other chip & PIN card issuers worldwide.

Positioned at the core of an EMV implementation, Bell ID® EMV Token Manager is responsible for performing data preparation for any EMV or chip payment application and for managing the entire lifecycles of an EMV token, its associated applications and related cryptographic keys. It enables issuers of payment applications to simply and quickly migrate to EMV and to enhance the functionality of their existing EMV deployments.

Significantly, Bell ID® EMV Token Manager’s design directly incorporates feedback from a series of customer consultation workshops, ensuring that it reflects actual industry and customer requirements relative to EMV token management.

As a result, an improved and highly intuitive online user interface simplifies both operations management and configuration, cutting deployment timescales and offering substantial reduction in program costs.

Optional enhancements such as EMV instant issuance, EMV scripting, internet PIN change, multi-application management, post-issuance management functionality and NFC mobile application management reinforce the value and versatility of the system, and the ability to contribute to the growth and profitability of issuers’ chip programs.

Bell ID® EMV Token Manager is compliant to relevant standards such as EMV, PCI and GlobalPlatform, enabling customers to implement fully certified end-to-end solutions. The platform has also been re-engineered based on the latest technology standards, and offers complete IT platform and database independence.

David Worthington, Principal Consultant Payment & Chip Technology at Bell ID, comments: “Bell ID EMV Token Manager offers EMV issuers the flexibility, scalability and modularity to manage EMV tokens even more easily and cost effectively than before.  The solution’s ’customization through configuration‘ approach ensures that it can be adapted to suit potentially unplanned future business requirements, such as managing multiple token types – perhaps payment applications on both cards and mobile phones – side by side. This level of future-proofing is essential in the increasingly dynamic payments market where new and emerging technologies continue to drive change at a very fast pace.”

Bell ID Realizes First End-to-End EMV Issuance Platform for Top 10 Bank Saudi Arabia

Bell ID, technology leader in token management software, today announced the realization of a fully integrated end-to-end EMV issuance solution for one of Saudi Arabia’s leadings banks, the first in-Kingdom operational end-to-end platform for both central and instant issuance.

In 2009, the Bank already deployed Bell ID’s software for its central issuance operations at its headquarters. Now, Bell ID’s instant issuance solution will be deployed at the Bank’s branch in Riyadh and will be rolled out to over one hundred branches throughout the Kingdom.

The new features will enable the Bank to directly issue EMV debit cards to customers while at the branch. This not only enhances customer service but also reduces delay, cost and risk. Both the instant and central issuing solutions are certified by MasterCard and the Saudi domestic debit card scheme.

Bell ID’s software platform covers a wide array of EMV management solutions to maximize the return on investment. In addition to EMV data preparation and both central and instant issuance for contact-based smart cards, Bell ID offers also offers support for contactless (PayPass and PayWave), full card/application lifecycle management, EMV parameter management and EMV PIN change capabilities via the Internet. Furthermore, the combination of banking services with mobile phones for providing contactless applications using Near Field Communication technology is also supported, which puts the product ahead of its competition.

Erik Wellen, General Manager Middle East at Bell ID, commented: “We are pleased to facilitate the first bank in Saudi Arabia with a fully integrated EMV issuance platform, a robust and proven solution that is ready for mass rollout for both central and instant issuance. It acknowledges the strength of our EMV solutions and underlines our presence in the Middle East region.”

Bell ID Selected by Major Bank in Saudi Arabia for EMV Issuing Solution

Bell ID, the worldwide technology leader in smart card management solutions, today announced that it has signed with one of Saudi Arabia’s leading banks for the provision of both central and instant issuing solutions of EMV cards.

Bell ID’s software suite, ANDiS, offers a comprehensive set of features to meet the bank’s requirements, namely EMV data preparation, smart card and application management, central issuance and instant issuance of chip cards at branch locations. The offered solution will enable the personalization of MULTOS chip based SPAN debit cards at more than 100 issuance locations in Saudi Arabia and various locations in Dubai and Pakistan. The system is also ready for the personalization of chip based M/Chip and VSDC cards and applications. Furthermore it will enable central issuance at the Bank’s head office.

The financial group is a banking heavyweight with a solid presence in Europe, the Middle East and South Asia. It holds more than 100 branches across the Kingdom, with branches in London, Dubai and Pakistan.

The ANDiS platform – certified by all major domestic and international card schemes – provides the Bank with a solid foundation for its EMV issuance solution that can be extended to take advantage of more sophisticated features and functionality in the future. This would enable the Bank to maximize return on investment by offering additional features and services, meant to improve customer retention, attract new customers and introduce revenue generating applications. These features include EMV parameter management, scripting, Internet PIN change, multi-application management and post-issuance personalization. Furthermore, the combination of banking services with mobile phones for providing contactless applications using Near Field Communication technology can be supported.

Erik Wellen, General Manager Middle East at Bell ID, commented: “We are very enthusiastic about this project and look forward to providing the Bank with a solid and reliable EMV issuing solution that will deliver world-class card solutions and services to its customer base.”
