Paul Kocher, the chief scientist of Rambus’ Cryptography Research division, recently presented a DesignCon 2016 keynote session that explored the crowded intersection of hardware, Moore’s Law and cryptography. As Kocher notes, cryptographic limits have historically been constrained by a salient lack of computing power.

AMD extends Rambus patent license agreement
Rambus has extended its patent license with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) for a third, five-year term.
Under the terms of the agreement, AMD will continue to be licensed for its integrated circuit and circuit board products for an additional five years.

Rambus acquires Smart Card Software for $93 million
Rambus has acquired Smart Card Software Ltd for £64.7M in cash, or approximately $93 million at the current exchange rate.
The newly acquired company – which comprises Bell Identification Ltd (Bell ID) and Ecebs Ltd (Ecebs) – will bolster the security portfolio of Rambus’ Cryptography Research division. To be sure, both Ecebs and Bell ID have created elements of critical technology behind the majority of leading software-based transaction protocols.
