Rambus Ecebs extends its cloud based ticketing capabilities with latest software upgrade
– Smart ticket delivery software ‘Paragon RTD’ awarded new ITSO certificate –
Rambus Ecebs, the UK pioneer of online travel ticket technology, is delighted to announce it has increased the functionality and flexibility of its remote ticketing software used by ticket retailers, travel authorities, transport operators and their customers. In parallel it has announced a partner program that will revolutionise the deployment of smart ticketing.
The new updates to Rambus Ecebs innovative Paragon RTD (Remote Ticket Download) technology, part of its extensive Paragon smart ticketing suite have already been fully certified by UK smart ticketing authority ITSO. New functions include allowing customers to buy carnet-style tickets, and to apply for refunds online as well as making it easier than ever to add smart ticketing to existing or new ticketing systems.
Since the first launch of the Paragon RTD system, the number of tickets purchased and delivered to customers using Paragon RTD software has risen steadily. Several schemes are now live with customers already benefiting from the convenience of immediate ticket delivery over the internet. In addition, the technology which was also integrated with Payzone terminals earlier this year will soon be in use throughout a wide number of retail outlets across a number of major Passenger Transport Executives and Local Authorities in the UK.
Russell McCullagh, Managing Director of Rambus Ecebs said: “We are delighted to announce the availability of the latest release of Paragon RTD, which has recently been awarded another ITSO certificate based on this version of the release.”
“As online retail and mobile technology continues to evolve and transform our lives at an incredible rate, transport ticketing must do the same to ensure passengers can enjoy the convenience and flexibility they demand. For this to happen, suppliers such as Rambus Ecebs must deliver feature rich software which is easy to deploy and cost effective to operate. We must also deliver through multiple Points of Service which include existing ticketing machines but also include new delivery options such as mobile devices.”
“Paragon software is already transforming the way you and I can purchase and pick up our travel tickets and is delivering smart ticketing through web and mobile service channels today. With our latest release of Paragon we are continuing to expand the capabilities of our software and this will speed up the adoption of smart ticketing while reducing the overall cost of delivering transport ticketing.”
Announcing ‘Paragon RTD Enablers’ Partner Programme
In tandem with this new release of Paragon RTD, Rambus Ecebs have announced a partner programme which enables ticketing suppliers to smart enable their existing solutions.
Stephen McSpadden, Head of Solutions for Rambus Ecebs said: “To deliver convenient and cost effective smart ticketing on a wide scale, it is necessary to enable a wider supplier community that will provide consumers and scheme operators with the best available choice of smart ticketing for their needs. Our enabler program is designed to do just that and we have a growing number of partners who will be delivering their own smart ticketing solutions using Paragon software as the smart ticketing engine.”
The new release of Paragon RTD includes:
- Support of online refunds
- Support of carnet-style tickets
- Support for additional types of smart card such as MIFARE Ultralight disposables
- Support for purchase and delivery of tickets/top-ups using online tools and smartphones/tablets with NFC capability
- Support for purchase and immediate ticket/top-up delivery or deferred pickup
In addition there are many new features which make Paragon very easy to integrate which is crucial for the enabler partner program.
James Lewis, Strategic Projects Director at Payzone said: “Again Rambus Ecebs are leading the way in the evolution of ITSO based smart ticketing. Payzone UK have been working with Rambus Ecebs to deliver smart ticketing into the wider retail space, and this is another example of Rambus Ecebs innovating and enhancing to meet the demands of the market. Not only first to market with a certifed solution but now into its second release, Paragon RTD continues to enhance our retail offering and proves again the commitment both organisations have made to support the national adoption of smart ticketing.”
Rambus Ecebs Paragon RTD system is now opening up new possibilities for mobile ticketing. For added convenience, Ecebs has developed a number of apps which can be used to deliver smart tickets using Near Field Communications (NFC) smartphones as a next step in our partner program.
