Rambus Unveils Ground-breaking Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative
Advanced innovations to enable terabyte per second memory subsystems operating at a record 16Gbps
RAMBUS DEVELOPER FORUM – TOKYO, JAPAN – 11/28/2007 – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS), one of the world’s premier technology licensing companies specializing in high-speed memory architectures, today unveiled its Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative. This technology initiative includes the development of new memory signaling innovations that will facilitate blazing fast data rates of 16Gbps and enable a future memory architecture that can deliver an unprecedented terabyte per second (TB/s) of memory bandwidth (1 terabyte = 1,024 gigabytes) to a single System-on-Chip (SoC). With the technology developed through this initiative, Rambus will dramatically increase the data rate of memory above the current world’s fastest memory, the Rambus 4.8GHz XDR™ DRAM. Rambus will demonstrate a silicon test vehicle for its Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative today at RDF-Japan.
“We will drive memory signaling technology to performance levels that are an order of magnitude greater than what can be achieved today,” said Kevin Donnelly, senior vice president of engineering at Rambus Inc. “Continuing the Rambus tradition of innovation, our engineers and scientists have pioneered new technologies that will enable terabyte per second memory architectures for gaming, computing and consumer electronic systems of the next decade.”
Rambus’ Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative includes ground-breaking innovations for a new generation of memory systems, such as:
- 32X data rate – 32 data bits per input clock cycle;
- Fully Differential Memory Architecture (FDMA) – The industry’s first differential signaling for both data and command/address (C/A);
- FlexLink™ C/A – The industry’s first full-speed, point-to-point C/A link.
The Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative is the latest in a long tradition of pioneering Rambus technology development programs. For more than seventeen years, Rambus engineering teams have developed the leadership innovations that enable faster signaling and advanced system designs. Committed to the advanced research and development of high-speed memory architectures, Rambus invests heavily in advanced circuit design, high-speed logic interfaces, low-power interface solutions, system engineering, signal integrity, verification, and testing. To date, Rambus engineers and scientists have developed innovations resulting in over 1000 issued and pending patents worldwide.
More information on the Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative and its innovations will be presented at the Rambus Developer Forum (RDF) in Tokyo, Japan (November 28-29, 2007, https://forum.rambus.co.jp/). Additional information on the Terabyte Bandwidth Initiative is also available at https://www.rambus.com/terabyte.

Bell ID & Collis Forge Technology Partnership
Bell ID & Collis forge technology partnership which will integrate Bell ID’s ANDiS smart Card and Application Management System (CAMS) with the Collis Card Image Editor (Collis CIE) and the Collis EMV Personalization Validation Tool (Collis PVT).
Combining both companies’ EMV, CAMS and Testing expertise will provide financial institutions with faster EMV implementations, reduce costs and provide better quality results. The ANDiS4EMV CAMS and Collis’s CIE and Collis PVT are products that complement each other exceptionally well by providing real benefits to the end customers. Financial institutions will gain an easy way to define card templates and ensure higher quality standards in their EMV card production. Integrating the Bell ID and Collis products ensures a smooth certification process for the banks and significantly reduces the implementation time of an EMV project.
Both products will support each other’s file formats as part of the standard settings and avoid customization during the testing phase of an EMV project. The two product combinations will be supporting mass personalization and branch issuance personalization processes.
Using the Collis PVT to test cards produced by the ANDiS4EMV Branch Issuance solution, which allows banks to issue cards on demand inside the bank branch in a distributed personalization system, will provide issuers with a quality control instrument and may assist banks obtaining personalization infrastructure certification with the credit schemes.
Bell-ID’s ANDiS4EMV CAMS and Scripting Solution will be demonstrated together with the Collis PVT and CIE for the very first time on the Bell ID booth 4L 032 at Cartes 2007 in Paris from the 13th to the 15th of November.
Berend van Geffen, Vice President Sales and Marketing at Collis said “Both product sets fit very well together in order to achieve the highest available quality assurance level in the card industry. As Bell ID aims for the same level of quality and serves the same customers as Collis, we are glad to establish this partnership. The benefits to our customers are clear and they will improve both speed and quality during the issuing of smart cards.
Oliver Burke, General Manager Partners, Marketing and Business Development at Bell ID commented: “During the product integration process both organizations gained significant knowledge about each other’s products. This knowledge, together with the very close relationships established between the people within the organizations will benefit both organizations’ end customers. In addition the seamlessly integrated products make this an exciting and important partnership for Bell ID.”
