Northwest Logic’s MIPI CSI-2 Controllers are Widely Used in Automotive Designs
Automobiles are increasingly using low cost, high performance MIPI Camera Serial Interface (CSI-2) based cameras for an enhanced driver experience (backup cameras, collision detection, autonomous driving, etc.). Northwest Logic’s receive and transmit CSI-2 Controller Cores are being used to transport video between in-car cameras and the in-dashboard processing/display system. Northwest Logic’s transmit CSI-2 Controller Core is also being used in automotive-targeted cameras. In addition, Northwest Logic’s Display Serial Interface (DSI-2/DSI) Controller Cores are being used in automotive designs to connect to low cost displays. “Northwest Logic’s high-quality, low-power MIPI IP Controllers are being used by multiple customers in a variety of automotive designs. Many of these designs are silicon-proven and in full production,” said Brian Daellenbach, President of Northwest Logic. To see the latest MIPI trends, see Northwest Logic’s MIPI DEVCON presentation. Lauterbach is Now Utilizing Northwest Logic’s Expresso 3.0 Core in Its New TRACE32 PowerTrace
Lauterbach GmbH, a global leader in debuggers and real-time trace tools, provides support for all of the commonly used debug interfaces such as JTAG, SWD, cJTAG, TriCore™ DAP and all imported trace protocols such as ARM-ETM, Nexus, Intel® Processor Trace and TriCore™ MCDS with its TRACE32® product line.
After supporting serial trace interfaces over Xilinx Aurora for 10 years, Lauterbach is now utilizing Northwest Logic’s Expresso 3.0 Core in its new TRACE32 PowerTrace Serial module to provide its customers with tracing via the PCI Express. The Expresso 3.0 Core is part of Northwest Logic’s PCI Express Solution. This solution is designed to achieve maximum PCI Express throughput while being easy to use. “The use of Northwest Logic’s Expresso 3.0 Core greatly reduced our time to market and enabled us to provide a high-quality trace tool to our customers,” said Dirk Rudolph, Chief Designer for TRACE32 trace tools. Northwest Logic and eSilicon Demonstrate Complete, Silicon-Proven HBM2 Solution
eSilicon and Northwest Logic have demonstrated a complete, silicon-proven HBM2 solution. This solution utilizes eSilicon’s HBM2 PHY and Northwest Logic’s HBM2 Controller Core. The Samsung 14nm test chip was integrated with a 4-high HBM stack using stitched silicon interposers. “This demonstrates Northwest Logic’s and eSilicon’s high-performance HBM2 solution. It also demonstrates eSilicon’s ability to support the entire process flow including design, fab, assembly, and bring-up,” said Patrick Soheili, Vice President, Product Management and Corporate Development at eSilicon. Customer ASICs that use this full-featured HBM2 controller and PHY combination are in design and will be in full production in 2018. Please visit these HBM2 links (Controller, PHY) for more information.
Northwest Logic and INVECAS Collaborate for Complete Silicon Proven Solutions
INVECAS, Inc. and Northwest Logic have collaborated since 2015 to provide complete PHY and Controller solutions. INVECAS provides a wide range of PHYs for GLOBALFOUNDRIES 14LPP and 22FDX advanced nodes. These PHYs are now silicon proven in test chips in conjunction with Northwest Logic’s Controller Cores. These test chips have been characterized with state-of-the-art test equipment to verify complete electrical and protocol compliance. As a result, fully integrated and silicon proven DDR4/3, LPDDR4/3, CSI-2 and DSI Controller + PHY solutions are now available from Invecas and Northwest Logic. “Northwest Logic is excited to be collaborating with INVECAS to provide industry leading solutions to the market and see the great progress made over the last two years,” said Brian Daellenbach, President of Northwest Logic. PRO DESIGN and Northwest Logic Create World’s First FPGA-based LPDDR4 Demonstration
PRO DESIGN and Northwest Logic have created the world’s first FPGA-based LPDDR4 demonstration. This demonstration utilizes PRO DESIGN’s Virtex Ultrascale-based proFPGA platform and LPDDR4 Memory Board and Northwest Logic’s LPDDR4 SDRAM Controller Core.
The modular and scalable proFPGA platform enables the cost-effective prototyping of large ASICs. PRO DESIGN offers a series of extension cards that plug into the main FPGA board including one with LPDDR4 memory devices. Northwest Logic’s full-featured, high-efficiency LPDDR4 SDRAM Controller Core was targeted to this platform utilizing Northwest Logic’s proprietary FPGA-based LPDDR4 PHY.
“PRO DESIGN has created a very useful and proven platform for LPDDR4 ASIC prototyping,” said Brian Daellenbach, President of Northwest Logic. “Northwest Logic’s ability to target its LPDDR4 Controller to an FPGA was critical to creating this LPDDR4 demonstration,” said Martin Langner, Director Technical Sales & Support of PRO DESIGN.
