Eurobank Poland Launches Cloud-Based Mobile Wallet with First Data and Bell ID

Bell ID & First Data Poland announce mobile payments collaboration and first live customer

ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – Bell ID – the mobile payments specialist recently acquired by Rambus – has announced a new collaboration with First Data Poland to offer cloud-based mobile payments as a service to Polish banks. Through this collaboration, Eurobank Poland has integrated Bell ID’s Secure Element (SE) in the Cloud software and First Data Poland’s data preparation, personalization and processing services into its mobile wallet application.

As mobile payments are expected to see significant growth worldwide, Eurobank Poland’s implementation of Bell ID and First Data’s technologies is leading the way for easy, secure mobile payments to its more than one million customers through host card emulation (HCE) technology.

Eurobank – mobile money for Poland

“Eurobank has always offered its customers innovative products, so mobile payments are a big priority,” adds Wojciech Huminski, vice president of Eurobank. “First Data and Bell ID have given us a leading cloud-based solution that helped us to create our own mobile app, ensuring convenience and security for our customers, while providing flexibility for future needs.”

A powerful mobile payments partnership

“Our alliance with First Data makes life easy for banks,” comments David Orme, CEO of Bell ID. “The two platforms are fully integrated, enabling issuers to launch cloud-based mobile payments quickly and cost effectively. Mobile payments are at the heart of many banks’ strategies and it’s great to see the full-scale roll out of Eurobank’s mobile wallet, especially as contactless is booming in Poland.

The partnership combines Bell ID’s ability to securely transact payments in the cloud with First Data’s dynamic processing capabilities to support the next wave of mobile payment adoption. Bell ID’s cloud-based mobile payments software platform allows consumers to make contactless payments with Android mobile devices using near field communication (NFC). The First Data™ Mobile Platform offers customers data preparation and transaction processing, which is integrated seamlessly with the HCE solution provided by Bell ID.

“Bell ID supports the enablement of HCE mobile payments for our customers bypassing much of the complexity traditionally associated with launching mobile payment services,” said Damian Zapłata, General Manager of First Data, Poland.. With this partnership, banks do not need to invest in the infrastructure required to launch and manage mobile cloud-based payments, and our existing customers will be able to get up and running extremely quickly.”

A complete mobile payments solution

Bell ID Secure Element in the Cloud is fully compliant with the latest mobile payment security standards and supports advanced risk management, giving banks and customer’s confidence that their money and sensitive data is safe. Bell ID’s full suite of mobile solutions supports cloud based solutions using HCE, EMVCo tokenization, trusted services management (TSM) for SIM-based projects and for OEM Pay solutions that use embedded secure element solutions.

Bell ID to Support Android Pay

Banks, payment schemes & processors can use Bell ID Token Service Provider to integrate with Android Pay

Bell ID, the mobile payments specialist recently acquired by Rambus Cryptography Research, today announces it will support international issuing banks, payment schemes and processors to integrate with Android Pay. Bell ID customers can utilize its Token Service Provider (TSP) software to enable and secure near field communication (NFC) payments functionality on Android phones.

Android Pay is a mobile payment solution that offers people simplicity and security when paying for things with their Android devices. Bell ID’s TSP technology will secure Android Pay transactions via tokenization.

“Mobile payments is a big priority for Google and we’re working to support a wide range of issuers to make Android Pay available to everyone,” says Pali Bhat, Senior Director, Product Management, Google, “Bell ID’s integration takes us one step further in this direction.”

“A lot of our customers are keen to integrate with Android Pay and this support enables us to answer this demand,” adds Dr. Martin Scott, senior vice president and general manager of the Rambus Cryptography Research division. “With this relationship in place, Bell ID is now one of the few solution providers that can help banks to reach their full customer base, regardless of the smartphone they own. Bell ID does this by supporting the vast majority of OEM wallet, mobile operating system and secure element combinations. 2016 is going to be the biggest year yet and we’re excited to be supporting the future of payments.”

Bell ID offers one software platform for issuing banks, processors and payment schemes to support mobile NFC payments. EMV® card credentials can be loaded and managed on a mobile device or in the cloud, using host card emulation (HCE). The solution is backed by a comprehensive EMVCo tokenization module that removes vulnerable card data from the payment network.

Visit the Bell ID website to learn more about Token Service Provider or Android Pay integration. Bell ID will also be present at Mobile World Congress with its virtual reality demonstration of the tokenization process associated with a mobile payment.

Eftpos Selects Bell ID’s Tokenization Platform for New Australian Mobile Payments Capability

Eftpos today announced a new partnership with Bell ID to build a flexible, domestic mobile payments capability, including secure tokenization services.

Bell ID’s Token Service Provider platform will integrate with the eftpos Hub: a reliable, secure and scalable centralized switch that provides the Australian industry with a cost effective, real time payments processing platform with the capability to implement new products and services.

Tokenization provides additional security by giving eftpos the ability to replace card numbers with unique reference numbers so that the information cannot be compromised.

eftpos Managing Director, Bruce Mansfield, said the new capability would enable eftpos payments to be made securely across various digital platforms and applications being developed by Australian industry participants.

“It’s great to be partnering with Bell ID on this important project because they have an excellent international reputation in the dynamic area of mobile payments and tokenization,” Mr Mansfield said. “This new capability will enhance competition in the Australian mobile payments market and help eftpos meet the growing needs of this rapidly changing area of payments technology.  It will also provide the Australian industry with the choice of a domestic, secure tokenization service.”

Executive Chairman at Bell ID, Pat Curran, said: “Bell ID is excited to partner with eftpos and to contribute to the mobile payments advancement in Australia. With our Token Service Provider platform, eftpos has the freedom to integrate any of its Members to offer secure tokenization services and provision tokens to a wide array of mobile form factors and channels. This enables eftpos to adapt to the market’s constantly changing dynamics.”

Mr Mansfield added that the new mobile payments capability would complement eftpos’ centralized payments processing hub, the “eftpos Hub”, that is scheduled to be upgraded for online payments this month and tokenization in early 2016.

Since being launched in September 2014, the Hub is already processing almost 2 million eftpos CHQ and SAV transactions a day.

Bell ID First to be Certified for Cloud Mobile Payments by Three of the Largest Payment Schemes

Mobile payments specialist, Bell ID, today announces that its host card emulation (HCE) mobile solution has been certified by three of the largest global payments schemes. Bell ID is the first vendor to receive approval from three schemes for its HCE platform, offering its customers the broadest range of options available on the market today.

The HCE specialist’s software manages the lifecycle of virtual cards, keys, certificates and NFC payment credentials in a secure, remote environment rather than in the mobile device, providing banks with the independence and control to manage customer payment assets.

“Bell ID was among the first to market with an HCE solution with Secure Element in the Cloud back in 2013, so we’re delighted to report a repeat performance in achieving compliance with the scheme’s specifications,” comments Pat Curran, Executive Chairman at Bell ID. “Despite the market’s rapid development, cloud-based mobile payments remain in their infancy so, understandably, issuers are seeking quality and interoperability reassurances both from third party vendors and the payment networks. The validation of our cloud-based payment solution in this way provides peace of mind that our application meets the major schemes’ worldwide functional and interoperability requirements.”

Bell ID® Secure Element in the Cloud provides the functionality to complete transactions through a remote secure element using a standard EMV contactless terminal and acceptance infrastructure. When consumers tap their phones to make transactions, card credentials are safely accessed and used securely to perform the transactions with the point-of-sale terminals. The data is presented in the same format as in a standard physical contactless card-present transaction.

In order to achieve these certifications, Bell ID was subjected to a number of stringent security and functionality reviews. The platform is aligned with global requirements supporting, for example, multiple application identifiers (AIDs) in the same funding account, in line with the specific requirements of the US market.

To find out more about mobile cloud payments using HCE, visit the Bell ID website. Bell ID’s full suite of mobile solutions supports cloud-based solutions using HCE, EMVCo tokenization, trusted services management (TSM) for SIM-based projects and for embedded secure element solutions.

Bell ID Launches Tokenization Manager

New solution will assist card issuers and merchants to reduce fraud resulting from stolen card account data

Payment credential management specialist, Bell ID, has launched its Tokenization Manager software. The solution will be used by card issuers and merchants to enhance security and limit fraud by facilitating tokenized payments.

EMV payment tokenization is the process of replacing a personal account number (PAN) with a unique identifier, known as a ‘payment token’. The payment token can only be used in a specific domain such as a merchant’s online website, or channel for example a mobile device to make a near-field-communication (NFC) payment.

Pat Curran, Executive Chairman at Bell ID, explains: “As an example, tokenization replaces the need for merchants or digital wallet operators to store customers’ card data. As the payment tokens are created for a designated purpose, they are very unappealing to fraudsters as the data stolen cannot be used more widely. Tokenization will therefore prevent large scale attacks on merchants for card data, keeping confidential, sensitive information out of reach and helping to increase consumer trust. This is very important following a number of large scale data breaches in the US over the past year.”

Bell ID’s Tokenization Manager, which has already been deployed worldwide to support mobile NFC payments, provides Token Service Provider functionality in line with the EMV Payment Tokenization Specification – Technical Framework v1.0. It will be used by token requesters such as card issuers to manage payment tokens, digital wallet providers to deliver tokens to support mobile NFC payments, and merchants to replace card on-file storage of PANs.

The solution operates and manages a secure repository, referred to as a token vault, which maintains a link between the payment token and real PAN. It also generates the payment token and associated cryptographic data, provides de-tokenization services for transaction authorization and clearance, and delivers access to securely issue and manage the lifecycle of the token.

“The ability to manage the payment token securely and efficiently is very important, as it can be ‘unlinked’ from the PAN if the token is no longer required. For example if a mobile handset is lost or stolen or a customer closes their account with the merchant,” explains Curran. “We have leveraged our long-standing experience in this space to create a product that provides a seamless user experience for our customers and consequently end users, whilst increasing the security of mobile payment credentials. It is measures such as these that will pave the way for the mass market adoption of mobile payments.”

To find out more about Bell ID Tokenization Manager, visit the Bell ID website. Bell ID will also be present at Money 2020 and Cartes offering a comprehensive demo of the solution – schedule a meeting via our website.
