How the FIPS Security Toolkit works

The Rambus FIPS Security Toolkit is a portable software cryptographic toolkit allowing IoT device and platform makers to deploy required security. It provides well-integrated modules for FIPS certified cryptography, TLS/DTLS protocols, integration with OpenSSL, x.509 certificate libraries, and all commonly used cryptographic functions. It is a solution to replace RSA/BSAFE.

This solution is built around the widely deployed Rambus TLS Toolkit cryptographic module, a compact and portable cryptographic library validated by NIST, that has been designed to provide high performance on resource-constrained environments. It supports a wide range of architecture (ARMv6, ARMv7, ARMv8, ARM64, x86, x86-64 …) and operating systems (Linux, Android, iOS, FreeRTOS, Trustonic TEE…).

The CryptoManager Root of Trust

Built around a custom RISC-V CPU, the Rambus CryptoManager Root of Trust (CMRT) is at the forefront of a new category of programmable hardware-based security cores. Siloed from the primary processor, it is designed to securely run sensitive code, processes and algorithms. More specifically, the CMRT provides the primary processor with a full suite of security services, such as secure boot and runtime integrity, remote attestation and broad crypto acceleration for symmetric and asymmetric algorithms.
